The mission is to ensure in partnership with stakeholders; that all MTNs finances are managed efficiently as well as all financial and business information represents a true and fair view of the state of the business of MTN.
| OPERATIONAL DELIVERY Develop the long term financial strategy for the MTN OPCO in line with global best practice in order to ensure that the organization is viable both internally and externally and as a social and financial entityDevelop an effective financial management framework for treasury; tax planning and financial controls in order to set standards and work methodsProvide leadership and management with the visibility; control and decision support required to understand and manage the financial team; as well as provide the team with the expertise to build the financial capabilities in order to drive effectiveness and efficiencies within the teamPrepare the annual finance work plan and ensure the effective execution thereof in order for the business objectives to be achievedEstablish the finance functions’ alignment with MTN OPCO objectives in order to effectively drive the overall business and group objectivesEstablish and monitor performance benchmarks for financial team in order to ensure ongoing effectiveness of the divisionPrepare; monitor and control the annual budget process to ensure expenditure is in line with the business planAct as the chief advisor and strategist, providing needed support to the CEO; Board and employees with respect to the identification of financial risk and long term financial effects of company decisions (financial scenario analysis) |
• Provide advice to Board and CEO in order to guide business decisionsProvide direction and decision making capability in order to determine the best means of aligning the operational environment with the strategic intent of the organizationAct as custodian of company assets (control; loss protection; internal controls) to ensure the safe guarding of these assets
• Advise on the resolution of attendant issues in forums such as Board meetings; MANCOM; operational reviews etc.Approve all finance and accounting transactions to ensure good corporate governanceEnsure adequate company funding by ensuring optimal spending of money – keeping costs low yet product / service in line with standards set by MTNEvaluate the broader environment variables and business market conditions and incorporate this assessment into decision making processesIdentify financial risk and effects thereof so as to protect the business from potential revenue lossesMaintain financial integrity in MTN OPCO books; financial processes and procedures in order to ensure good corporate governance is maintainedCoordinate with various departments to obtain necessary information for reporting the state of the MTN OPCO businessManage risk and return of company financial resourcesMinimize revenue leakagePlan taxes efficiently to reduce impact of taxes on performance of businessReport on the MTN OPCO business state in a true and fair manner.
EDUCATION Minimum of 4/5 year degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration /MBA or Masters advantageousProfessional Qualification – CA / ACCA / CIMAFluent in English and language of Country preferable.
WORK EXPERIENCE 10 years finance experience including 5 years at a senior level reporting into the CFO of a large reputable organizationWorked accross diverse cultures and geographies.
